The management of Federal University Oye Ekiti has appointed chief Wole Olanipekun ( SAN) as visiting professor of legal practice
.
The Vice Chancellor of the institution , Prof Abayomi Fasina disclosed this during the 7th Convocation ceremony and investiture of the Chancellor,
Prof. Fasina described Chief Olanipekun as highly respected legal luminary in Nigeria whose wealth of experience in legal profession is immensurable and unquantifiable.
He noted that apart from his experience that will be beneficial to law students of the institution, Olanipekun would also serve as role model to law students not only in the institution but in Nigeria.
The Chancellor called on Olanipekun to use his experience and influence for the growth and advancement of law faculty of the institution.
In his response , Chief Olanipekun who was conferred with honorary Doctorate degree in Constitutional law at the ceremony described himself as a child of grace who would at all times use the grace of God upon his life to assist humanity.
As visiting Professor of legal practice , Olanipekun said he is fully ready to resume lecturing job in the institution. According to him,
” There should be a meeting point between lawyers in academics and those practicing in order to develope law profession, Olanipekun stated.
The foremost legal luminary who explained that under his scholarship scheme he has trained many lawyers said he would never relent in giving little assistance to the masses.
At the event, Olanipekun announced cash donation of #10 million to the best twenty law graduates of the institution.
At the event Mr Stephen Olabisi Onasanya former Managing Director of First Bank and Chief Segun Odegbami former Captain of Nigeria National team received honorary Doctorate degree.
Onasanya announced a two million Naira donation to the best graduating students in Accounting.
At the event 3,898 was awarded first and second degrees with 91 students graduated with first class
