A Muslim Cleric, Alhaji Idris Yunus has described Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State as a man anointed by God to bring impactful leadership and development to the state.
Alhaji Yunus, who is the Chief Imam of Ode-Ekiti Central Mosque stated this during a Special Ramadan Outreach for vulnerable Muslim Faithful in Ekiti South Federal Constituency 1 and 2, facilitated by the Bureau of Community Communications.
The vulnerable Muslim faithful drawn from mosques in Ekiti South Federal Constituencies 1 and 2 assembled in Ode Ekiti and Ise/Orun respectively and were given food items, cash gifts and Korans in Ise-Ekiti.
He emphasized that Governor Oyebanji has demonstrated purposeful leadership and all-inclusive governance by prioritizing the needs of the people irrespective of tribe and religion.
While commending the state governor for embarking on the outreach, Alhaji Yunus, who doubles as the Chairman, League of Imams and Alfas in Gbonyin/Ayekire LGA, revealed that the kind gesture is the first of its kind in the area.
He said: “What the governor is doing is very good for our people and we appreciate him. Most of the people that received it are the needy. We appreciate the caring heart governor for extending hands of fellowship to the people irrespective of your tribe and religion.
“This is the kind of governor we want and we have not experienced this kind of gesture in the state before. This is the first time we will be seeing a governor that will remember us during Ramadan. He is a lover of the people who has touched lives, built roads, infrastructures, water, electricity, particularly in this environment.
“We were in darkness for many years and he promised us that there would be light. Within 100 days in office, BAO brought light to Ekiti East, Gbonyin/Ayekire. We thought it was not possible but he said it was possible. This man is an anointed man of God and we will continue to support him.” He concluded.
In an interview, Director General, Bureau of Community Communications, Mrs Mary Oso- Omotosho said the essence of the exercise is to share love among the Muslim faithful, particularly during the Ramadan season.
She explained that the governor’s compassion for the masses and his acknowledgment on the importance of Ramadan inspired the need to reach out to the vulnerable Muslim faithful adding that the outreach will extend to other federal constituencies in the state.
The vulnerable Muslim faithful, who adorned in their colourful attires, appreciated the governor’s compassionate gesture for the Ramadan season and pledged their constant prayers for him.
