As the administration of Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, nears two years in office, Infrastructure and Industralization, which is agenda 5, is becoming visible with the execution of lots of road projects across the state.
This was part of the state government’s commitment to ameliorating the sufferings faced by people and ensuring that all ongoing road construction and reconstruction works are completed in record time for easy movement of goods and services across the state.
In actualizing this, Governor Oyebanji is making history in his road revolution pursuit under the Rural Agricultural and Marketing Programme (RAAMP).
One of the major handlers is Hallekem Construction Company, which is currently executing the 8.68km Are-Oye Ekiti road construction.
A visit of State House correspondents to the site at Are Ekiti revealed that the project is ongoing, with workers seeing on site working assidously to ensure the timely completion of the project.
The earthworks and bush clearing have been done, while construction of the two side drainages is ongoing.
Fakere Rufus, project engineer; Ndu Anazodo, site engineer; and Head of Human Resources and Administration, Mr. Tope Johnson, in separate interviews, said the road is properly being fixed in phases with standard materials in tandem with the government’s specification and the company’s policy to deliver quality works that would last longer.
Commenting on the local content law instituted by the state government, the trio explained that most of the skilled laborers engaged are Ekiti residents, while assuring that more workers will be incorporated as the project goes further.
They observed that leaders of the community had been cooperating with the construction company towards the success of the project.
