The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has approved the deployment of Commissioners of Police to eight state commands and several strategic formations across the country as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen operational efficiency and deepen police reforms.
The deployment, which received the approval of the Police Service Commission, was announced on Thursday in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu.
According to the statement, the newly appointed Commissioners of Police for the state commands are Afolabi Wilfred Olutokunbo (Abia), Ayodeji Faniyan (Plateau), Saka Adewale Ajao (Bayelsa), Ajo Geoffrey Ordue (Cross River), Nanna Oji Ama (Anambra), Patrick Daaor (Edo), Tani Murtala (Jigawa), and Samuel Erale (Delta).
The Inspector-General also approved the posting of several Commissioners to key formations, including the Force Intelligence Department (FID), Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Department of Finance and Administration (DFA), Department of Training and Development (DTD), the Police Academy, and the Police Staff College.
Among those deployed are CP Yemi John Oyeniyi to the Force Criminal Investigation Department as Commissioner in charge of INTERPOL; CP Charles Ezekwesiri Dike to the Department of Finance and Administration and Department of Training and Development at the Force Headquarters, Abuja; CP Aina Adesola to the FCID Annex, Alagbon, Lagos, as Commissioner in charge of Anti-Human Trafficking; and CP Uduak Ita Otu.
Others include CP Abdullateef Ajape Yusuf, posted to the Force Criminal Investigation Department, Abuja, for General Investigation; CP Taiwo A. Adedeji to the Counter Terrorism Unit at the Force Headquarters; CP Ajayi Oluyemi to the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the FCID, Abuja; and CP Bolanle Aremu to the Department of Finance and Administration at the Force Headquarters.
The deployment also affects CP Ibrahim Lukunche Usman, who takes charge of the Inspectorate Department under the Department of Training and Development; CP Mohammed Hassan Ahmed, posted as Deputy Commandant of the Police Staff College, Jos; CP Rita Oyintare Oki, deployed to the Department of Finance and Administration, Force Headquarters Annex, Lagos; and CP Ibrahim Umar D. Zungura, who assumes duties as Commissioner of Police (Administration) at the FCID Annex, Kaduna.
Also redeployed are CP Nelson Nwamana to the Police Academy, Kano, and CP Danbaba Mohammed Labbo to the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex in Gombe.
The Inspector-General charged the senior officers to bring their wealth of experience to their new assignments by strengthening intelligence-led policing, enhancing operational effectiveness, promoting professionalism, and fostering stronger community engagement.
He also urged them to remain committed to safeguarding lives and property while upholding the highest standards of discipline, accountability, and quality service delivery.
According to the police, the redeployment is part of broader reforms aimed at enhancing internal capacity, improving operational efficiency, and delivering more effective policing services across the country.
