The Federal Government has said Nigeria will leverage India’s experience in technology, artificial intelligence (AI) and the digital economy to create more opportunities for the country’s growing youth population.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, disclosed this as Vice President Kashim Shettima leads Nigeria’s delegation to the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, India.
According to a statement by the minister’s Special Assistant on Communication and New Media, Dr Magnus Eze, Nigeria’s participation at the summit will focus on strengthening cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, technology, manufacturing and industrial development.
Odumegwu-Ojukwu said India’s success in deploying technology to engage its large youth population offered valuable lessons for Nigeria, particularly in artificial intelligence, agriculture, the digital economy and women’s participation in technology.
She said stronger collaboration with India could help Nigeria drive innovation, expand economic opportunities and promote inclusive development.
Nigeria became a BRICS partner country in January 2025 and is expected to use the summit to deepen its economic and strategic engagement with India and other emerging economies.
