The Executive Chairman, Ifeloju Local Council Development Area, Ilupeju Ekiti, Comrade Babatunde Ogunmilugba on Monday empowered fifty young farmers in the LCDA with farming tools and cash to aid farming.
Comrade Ogunmilugba who presented large quantities of cassava stems, seedlings, chemicals, cutlasses, files and cash to the beneficiaries drawn from the 5 towns that make up the LCDA, enjoined the beneficiaries to make use of the materials judiciously for bumper harvest which would change their lives for better.
The Chairman reteirated the readiness of the LCDA to group the beneficiaries into a co-operative society for them to receive government and corporate bodies interventions. He said the cassava
would be harvested within 8 months
While flagging off the empowerment, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Engineer Olugbenga Odesanmi promised government support for the LCDA in the areas of land acquisition, grants, modern equipments and training.
The PS advised the beneficiaries to make use of the materials given them judiciously, saying farming is a good profession which could wipe out poverty in the land.He however enjoined the beneficiaries not to sell their harvested products to other states.
In a goodwill message, the Director of Agriculture, Mr Akintunde P.A.O appreciated the ingenuity of comrade Ogunmilugba.
Comrade Ogunmilugba hinted that monitoring team would be in touch with the beneficiaries always to inspect their farms and proffer necessary assistance when the need arises, saying his administration was poised to making them millionaire through farming.
The LCDA Boss promised to partner State government to get modern farming equipments and provide markets for the harvested farm produce.
While responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr Agbedun Sunday, thanked the Chairman for empowering the young farmers, promised to make the LCDA proud through their harvest.
Also, Mr Oluwole Ojo appreciated the Council for the kind gestures.
Recall that in 2022, the Chairman reared broilers, nursed 10000 cocoa seedlings, 3000 cashew and 500 palm- kernels among other farm products were given to farmers.
Dignitaries at the programme among others includes: Secrertary of the LCDA, Hon. Babatunde Alonge, Leader of Oye Local Government, Rt. Hon. Muyiwa Dada, councillors, supervisors, Head of Departments.
