Court of Appeal sitting in Akure, the Ondo State capital on Wednesday upheld the judgement of the lower court which affirmed that Osun State Governor-elect, Ademola Adeleke, as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party( PDP) for July 16 governorship election.
Dotun Babayemi, who claimed he won the primary election had contested the party’s governorship primaries at the High Court
challenging the validity of the primary conducted by the national leadership of the party but lost in the court.
Babayemi, not contented with the judgment of the High court, there after proceeded to the appellate court to challenge the judgment but the appellate court on Wednesday struck out the appeal.
Babayemi had taken Adeleke before a Federal High court in Osogbo, seeking to be declared as the PDP candidate for the July 16 governorship election in Osun state.
Recall that Babayemi and Adeleke had separate primary at different centres in Osogbo on 8, March, 2021. Babayemi’s faction had his primary election at The Children and Women Development Centre, Osogbo while Adeleke’s faction had their primary at Osogbo City Stadium monitored by representatives of national body of PDP and INEC officials.
The judgment of the appellate court has put to rest the fear in the camp of the Governor – elect that might rub them of the victory in the just concluded election.
