The Governor of Ekiti State,Mr Biodun Oyebanji has set up a committee to work out modalities on how to offset the backlog of gratuities owned pensioneers.
Governor Oyebanji disclosed this while playing host to the Administrative Committee of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners in his office in Ado Ekiti. He Urged the committee to work with the State Chapter of Pensioneers
The committee members include: Commissioner for Finance as Chairman, Head of Service, Special Adviser on Trade and Investment, Special Adviser on Budget and Economic development and Executive Secretary, PTDA.
The Governor enjoined the committee to be proactive saying his government was passionate about the welfare of Pensioneers . He stressed that the modalities that the committee and the union will arrive at will aid his government to commence implementation as from January, 2023.
Oyebanji reiterated his commitment to fuifilling campaign promises to the Pensioneers , saying they should keep faith with his government
Earlier, the State Chairman, Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Mr Akinola and National Vice Chairman Elder Joel Ikumapayi appreciated the Governor for placing high premium on their welfare, citing the release of their August, September and October check up dues.
They called on government to ensure orderliness in the payment of gratuities to members both in the local and state. They also enjoined the Governor to use executive order to direct all state health institutions to give adequate medical treatments to Pensioneers at a reduced costs.
