As students of private and public Primary and Secondary schools resumed for 2024/2025 academic session in Ekiti state, Students and parents of Junior Secondary school One (JSS1) frowned at ministry of education’s inability to release names of successful Students for JSS1
The parents lamented that despite the seven weeks holiday, the government has failed to do the needful as regards candidates seeking admission into Junior Secondary school One .
According to some the parents who spoke with journalists said that all public secondary schools in Ekiti State are yet to release admission list into JSS one.
Secondary schools visited include: Saint Michael Secondary School, Ado Ekiti, Harding Model College, Ado Ekiti and David Oke Model High school report that the new students seeking admission into Junior Secondary schools do not know their faith whether they would be admitted or not.
Only few students were seen in the schools visited . The low turnout might be as a result of high cost of transportation.
In a related development, parents have decried high cost of stationery and transportation, calling on the government to help mitigate the harsh economy which they said had pushed the prices of consumables and standard of living up.
Efforts to speak with the Ekiti state Commissioner of Education, Dr Adebimpe Aderiye proved abortive as calls put across to her were not answered.
