Amid hike in pump price of Motor Spirit ( Petrol), the presidency has reiterated its commitment to honesty and transparency on removal of fuel subsidies.
Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga made the clarification in a post on his X account on Tuesday.
Onanuga emphasized that the government has been truthful about both the removal of subsidies and the deregulation of the downstream sector.
He said Tinubu’s administration has remained consistent in its policy not to pay fuel subsidies.
Consequently, the hike in the petrol price has increased cost of transportation which has effects on the prices of goods and services.
