The League of Veteran Journalists in Ekiti State has appealed to all stakeholders, particularly political parties, candidates, their supporters, and other participants in the forthcoming governorship election scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2026, to shun violence and ensure a free, fair, and peaceful electoral process.

Ekiti State Chapter at the end of the League’s monthly meeting held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre, Ado-Ekiti, on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.
The League, under the chairmanship of Prince Kayode Oni, noted that Ekiti State has enjoyed a long-standing reputation for political peace and stability and stressed the need to sustain this tradition during and after the election.
The veteran journalists observed that the eyes of the nation are on Ekiti and urged all political actors to conduct themselves responsibly in the interest of democracy and the state’s image.
The League also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct the election in strict compliance with electoral laws and guidelines, while maintaining neutrality and transparency throughout the process.
