The Ekiti State Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon. Gold Adesola Adedayo, has saluted Governor Biodun Oyebanji for kick-starting the construction of the Ekiti Knowledge Zone that will generate over 100,000 jobs when full completed.
Adedayo said the groundbreaking for the construction of the $800 million worth project won’t only portray Governor Oyebanji as a youth friendly governor, but lent credence to the fact that his government was devising ways to curb unemployment and poverty among the intellectually sophisticated teeming Ekiti youths.
The Commissioner gave the commendation in a statement issued in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday, saluting the project that was officially flagged off by the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima on Tuesday .
Describing the project as landmark achievement and part of the youth-driven policies envisioned by Oyebanji to unlock the youth potentials, Adedayo said the policy will introduce Ekiti youths to research, innovation, skills, entrepreneurial spirit and other strategic economic areas that can market them to the outside world.
In view of this wondrous display of love to build the youth capacity, Adedayo. appealed to the productive population to keep to their promise and vote massively for Governor Oyebanji in the June 20 governorship poll.
He urged the youths to demonstrate their relevance as having the highest representation in the country’s voting demography, by trooping out en masse to vote for Oyebanji and surpass the 500,000 vote tally set to actualise victory in the governorship election.
Adedayo stated that the fact that the project, which was conceived by the administration of Governor Kayode Fayemi was sustained and promoted by the current government, further buttressed the fact that the continuity agenda, which the governor represents, has benefited the state tremendously.
Applauding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Shettima for their collaborations, the Commissioner pointed out that the youth population will profit more in retaining Governor Oyebanji in power till 2030, than bringing an outsider that will end up discarding the laudable projects envisioned by the current and past administrations to shape their future .
He branded the Ekiti Knowledge Zone, as one of the numerous life- changing projects initiated by governor Oyebanji to transform the lives of the youth population, among which are the youth digital training programme, robust scholarship and bursary schemes, commercial farming initiative, and talent hunting policies, like sports.
“Let me on behalf of the entire youth of Ekiti State appreciate Governor Oyebanji for kick-starting the construction of the Ekiti Knowledge Zone legacy project. The youths are ultimately going to be the greatest beneficiaries of a programme that will employ over 100,000 when fully completed.
“As designed by the state government, the first phase of the project will employ over 20,000 youths.
“We appreciate the fact that Ekiti is the most educated in the country. But we need to build and market their capacity to the outside world. With this initiative, they can become more innovative, more research oriented, more scientifically sophisticated and cherish the concept of talent building that the governor has constantly preached”.
Adedayo congratulated the youths for having a governor who appreciates their capacity and relevance in government, and being passionate to make them the pivot on which the economy of the states rests and rotates.
