Ekiti State Government has again put smiles on the faces of residents by distributing several bags of rice and cash gifts to one hundred and forty three groups, Associations and communities in the state.
The distribution of Christmas rice and cash took place on Thursday at Osuntokun Pavilion, Government House, Ado-Ekiti, filled to the brim as representatives of communities, groups and Associations thronged the venue, beamed with laughter, joy and enthusiasm.
Declaring the 3 day programme opened, the Director General, Office of Community Communications, Mary Omotosho, said the initiative was geared towards Governor Oyebanji’s commitment to residents’ welfare, grassroot inclusion and shared prosperity.
According to the DG community Communication: “It’s a way of appreciating and reaching out to Ekiti people that the governor didn’t forget them in this yuletide season of sharing and gifting.
“Apart from different cash gifts and patronage that have gone into the public from the governor, this is another way of appreciating the public.
“We are going to do this for three days. Today we have brought different groups and associations, tomorrow we are bringing another set of groups and non-indigenes. Next tomorrow, we are bringing landlords associations and Chiefs to represent all communities in Ekiti State.”
Some of the Beneficiaries were Market women, People With Disabilities, Teachers, Veterans, community Department of local governments among others. While appreciating the kid gesture of the governor, representatives of each group and association took turn to applaud him and prayed for his re-election in 2026.
Representatives of mid-wives appreciated the Governor for advancing their jobs, saying government prioritized their welfare. Also, people with disabilities, thanked the governor for providing them jobs, saying the deaf among them were provided interpreters while Mr Idowu Olatunbosun, a representative of Ekiti state teachers applauded the governor for being teachers friendly .
