The Chairman of Ifeloju Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Ilupeju Ekiti, Hon. Olusola Michael Oniyelu, has extended warm New Year greetings to residents of Ifeloju LCDA, Ekiti State and Nigerians at large as they witness the first day of the year 2026.
In a New Year message made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti, Hon. Oniyelu expressed profound gratitude to God Almighty for His grace, protection and guidance throughout 2025, describing the outgone year as one marked by resilience, teamwork and notable achievements across the LCDA.
The Chairman appreciated the staff of Ifeloju LCDA, community leaders and residents for their unwavering support and collective contributions to the successes recorded in the past year, noting that the progress achieved was a product of shared vision, dedication and commitment to development.
Hon. Oniyelu also commended traditional rulers within the LCDA, party leaders, religious bodies, security agencies and critical stakeholders for their counsel, encouragement and cooperation, which he said greatly enhanced peace, stability and effective governance at the grassroots.
Reflecting on the achievements of his administration in 2025, the Chairman said his leadership delivered impactful projects that cut across all communities in Ifeloju LCDA. These, he listed, include the rehabilitation and opening of access roads, construction of culverts, building of market stalls and lock-up shops, sinking of new boreholes and rehabilitation of faulty ones, as well as educational support for students.
Other interventions, according to him, include youth empowerment programmes, financial support for petty traders to boost local businesses, and assistance to traditional palaces, all aimed at improving livelihoods and strengthening community development.
Hon. Oniyelu assured residents that his administration would consolidate on these gains in 2026, promising increased infrastructural development, expanded social welfare programmes and enhanced economic empowerment initiatives to further uplift the standard of living of the people.
He used the opportunity to urge residents and stakeholders to continue to support the second-term bid of Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, whom he described as a strong ally of grassroots development. According to him, the Governor’s unwavering support has empowered local government chairmen to deliver meaningful dividends of democracy to the people at the community level.
Reaffirming his commitment to transparent, inclusive and people-oriented governance, Hon. Oniyelu pledged to serve with utmost good faith, accountability and renewed energy in the new year.
He prayed for divine guidance, good health and unity among residents, expressing optimism that 2026 would usher in greater peace, prosperity and sustainable development for Ifeloju LCDA and Ekiti State as a whole.
