Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has announced that a total of ₦20,456,188,924.93 (Twenty billion, four hundred and fifty-six million, one hundred and eighty-eight thousand, nine hundred and twenty-four naira, ninety-three kobo) has so far been realised under the Oluremi @65 Education Fund.
The fund, launched to mark the First Lady’s 65th birthday, is targeted at completing the long-abandoned National Library Headquarters in Abuja, a critical national infrastructure that has remained uncompleted for years.
According to Mrs. Tinubu, the initiative is not only a personal milestone project but also a demonstration of her commitment to advancing education and knowledge development in Nigeria. She expressed gratitude to well-meaning Nigerians, corporate organisations, and development partners who have contributed generously to the fund, assuring that every naira raised will be judiciously utilised.
“The National Library is a pride of our nation and a symbol of knowledge, research, and enlightenment. Its completion will serve generations of Nigerians and strengthen our commitment to education,” the First Lady noted.
The Oluremi @65 Education Fund is expected to continue mobilising resources from both public and private stakeholders until the project reaches full completion.
