The attention of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Ekiti State Chapter has been drawn to a publication titled “Ekiti NDC dismisses ‘no confidence’ vote against David-Adesua, reaffirms leadership” circulating in the media.
In a statement made available to journalists, the Public Relations Officer/Publicity Secretary of the Party in the State, Mr. Olawale Olatunde, the NDC Ekiti State Chapter stated that the said publication is unauthorized and does not represent the official position of the recognized leadership of the Party in Ekiti State. Consequently, the contents therein, including claims regarding a purported vote of no confidence against Apostle Hon. Ayodele David-Adesua, are hereby disclaimed.
The NDC Ekiti State Chapter wishes to state that all official positions of the Party in the State are communicated only through the recognized organs of the Party as stipulated in the Party Constitution.
Any statement or publication not issued or authorized by the State Executive Committee should be disregarded by members of the public and the media.
The NDC Ekiti State Chapter rejects any insinuation that the emergence of Dr. Ayodele Ayokunle Olusegun as the Party’s candidate for Ekiti South Senatorial District for the 2027 General Elections was done outside due process.
For clarity, between May 29th and 30th, 2026, the NDC Ekiti State Chapter conducted a consultative and affirmation process in line with Party guidelines. The exercise was witnessed by representatives of the National and Zonal leadership of the Party, including the Deputy National Chairman, and the National Chairman, South-West Zone.[South]
At the conclusion of the said process, Dr. Ayodele Ayokunle Olusegun was affirmed as the Party’s candidate for Ekiti South Senatorial District*. Records of the proceedings are with the appropriate organs of the Party.
Any claim to the contrary is therefore inaccurate.
The NDC Ekiti State Chapter notes with concern the circulation of narratives capable of causing disaffection within the Party.
We urge all members and stakeholders to refrain from actions or statements that may undermine Party unity and cohesion, especially as we prepare for the 2027 General Elections.
The Party remains committed to resolving all internal matters through established constitutional mechanisms.
The NDC is guided by the principles of due process, rule of law, internal democracy, transparency, and accountability.
Leadership of the Party at all levels derives its legitimacy from the Constitution of the Party and the collective will of members, not from media pronouncements.
We, therefore, urge members of the media and the general public to seek clarification and confirmation from the recognized leadership of the NDC Ekiti State Chapter on any matter relating to the Party in the State.
The NDC Ekiti State Chapter remains focused, united, and committed to providing credible leadership and viable alternatives to the people of Ekiti State ahead of 2027.
The NDC belongs to its members.
Due process will be upheld at all times.
