NDC Leader, Ekiti South Senatorial Candidate
As the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, prepares for the 2027 General Elections, it is critical that we uphold the principles of transparency, due process, and unity.
In the interest of the Party and the people of Ekiti South, I find it necessary to place on record the facts regarding my emergence as the NDC Candidate for Ekiti South Senatorial District.
My emergence as the NDC Candidate for Ekiti South Senatorial District was conducted in full compliance with the Constitution and Electoral Guidelines of the Party. The verifiable facts are: I obtained, completed, and submitted my Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms, and fulfilled all financial obligations as stipulated by the Party. The process was concluded at the State level under the supervision of the State Chairman, Hon. Arogundade Musa, after which my name was forwarded for onward processing.
My candidature received affirmation from the National Leadership and the South-West Zonal Leadership of the Party. My name was duly uploaded on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, portal as the NDC Candidate for Ekiti South Senatorial District. The list of affirmed candidates was published as part of the Party’s May 29–30, 2026 affirmation exercise.
Based on the foregoing, any suggestion that my candidature did not follow due process is inconsistent with Party records and INEC documentation.
In the interest of transparency and accountability, clarification is required on the following: The status and proper accounting of all payments made in the course of the nomination process. The basis for any narrative that seeks to contradict the official affirmation and INEC upload of my candidature by recognized Party organs. The source of publications purporting to speak for the Party outside the recognized leadership structure of the NDC Ekiti State Chapter.
I trust that the appropriate organs of the Party will address these issues promptly in the interest of Party cohesion.
My commitment remains to the growth and electoral success of the NDC in Ekiti State.
I have invested time and resources in strengthening Party structures across the six Local Government Areas of Ekiti South. This was evident in the broad-based grassroots mobilization witnessed at our flag-off rally.
The NDC cannot afford distractions at this time. Our focus must be on consolidating our structures and presenting credible candidates to the people of Ekiti State.
I, Dr. Ayodele Ayokunle Olusegun, PhD, hereby reaffirm that I am the duly affirmed Candidate of the NDC for Ekiti South Senatorial District as validated by Party organs and recognized by INEC.
I remain committed to issue-based politics and to providing quality representation for the people of Ekiti South. I will not be deterred from pursuing this mandate.
I have engaged legal counsel to monitor developments and to take all necessary steps within the ambit of the law to protect my rights and the integrity of the Party’s process.
I call on all members of the NDC to remain united and focused. Let Party records speak. Let INEC records speak. Let due process prevail.
I am building NDC, and I will not allow anyone to destroy what I have sacrificed to establish.
The NDC belongs to its members.
Due process must be upheld at all times.
The end shall justify the means.
TOGETHER WE CAN
RESCUE REBUILD RISE NIGERIA
