The twenty-four female students abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS), Maga, in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, have regained their freedom following a non-kinetic intervention by the Federal Government.

Reliable security sources confirmed to our correspondent in Abuja on Tuesday that the release of the victims was achieved through coordinated efforts by officials of the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) and operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).
According to the source, the operation was anchored on a non-kinetic approach — a method that prioritizes dialogue, negotiation, and confidence-building measures rather than the use of military force. This, the source noted, reflects the government’s increasing reliance on peaceful strategies to resolve mass abduction cases across the country.
The kidnapping of the schoolgirls had sparked national and international outrage, coming on the heels of similar incidents in the region. The development also prompted a decisive operational order from the Chief of Army Staff, directing troops to intensify search-and-rescue efforts.
