The Centre Coordinator of the International Institute of Journalism (IIJ), Ado-Ekiti Campus, Mr. Dare Daniels, has charged newly admitted students of the institution to be disciplined and serve as worthy ambassadors of the school wherever they find themselves.
Mr. Daniels gave the charge during a one-hour orientation programme organised for students admitted for the 2025/2026 academic session at the school premises in Ado-Ekiti.
Addressing the students, the coordinator emphasised the importance of commitment to academic activities, urging them to take their lectures seriously, attend classes regularly and participate actively in class discussions.
He stressed that payment of a stipulated percentage of tuition fees is compulsory before any student can be eligible to sit for examinations, describing the requirement as “sacrosanct.”
According to him, the institute is founded on professionalism and discipline, noting that certificates would only be awarded on the basis of “character and learning.”
Mr. Daniels further disclosed that students who fail to attain a minimum of 65 per cent class attendance would not be allowed to write examinations.
He also announced key activities students are expected to participate in during the academic session, including the matriculation ceremony and students’ representative elections.
The coordinator warned that the institution would maintain zero tolerance for acts of disrespect towards fellow students and lecturers, as well as any form of flagrant disobedience to the school’s rules and regulations.
He encouraged the students to maintain cordial relationships with one another, ensure proper maintenance of school facilities and the environment, and uphold decent dressing at all times.
The orientation programme was aimed at familiarising the new students with the institute’s academic standards, code of conduct and expectations.
