The Nigeria Police Trust Fund on Wednesday commissioned a newly constructed Divisional Police Headquarters and a six-man rank-and-file quarters in Ado Ekiti, reinforcing efforts to strengthen security infrastructure in Ekiti State.
Speaking at the ceremony, the Executive Secretary of the Trust Fund, Mohammed Sheidu, said
providing decent and secure accommodation for officers was a deliberate effort to boost their morale, discipline, and dedication to duty, stressing that institutional performance is directly tied to the well-being of personnel.
The Executive Secretary noted that the project aligns with the Trust Fund’s broader nationwide strategy to rehabilitate and construct police stations, barracks, training colleges, and healthcare facilities to ensure officers operate in environments that reflect the importance of their mandate.
“At the Nigeria Police Trust Fund, we have identified infrastructure and welfare as critical pillars in supporting the Nigeria Police Force. A functional and well-equipped divisional headquarters enhances operational coordination, intelligence gathering, response time, and community engagement,” he stated.




The Governor of Ekiti state, Biodun Oyebanji represented at the event by the Chief of Staff, Hon. Oyeniyi Adebayo, described the project as a commendable intervention that underscores the importance of security to socio-economic development.
He reiterated that peace goes beyond the absence of conflict, noting that true peace guarantees freedom from fear and safety in daily life.
According to him, the support of the Trust Fund and the Federal Government will further strengthen the capacity of the police to secure lives and property in Ekiti State.
The Chief of Staff appealed for more infrastructure support for the Ekiti State Command and urged officers who would use the facilities to ensure proper maintenance to preserve the buildings for long-term service.
In his remarks, the representative of the Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, P.T. Nyatse, expressed appreciation to the Nigeria Police Trust Fund for providing a conducive working environment for officers. He acknowledged the support of the Ekiti State Government in sustaining a peaceful security atmosphere and pledged that the facilities would be effectively utilized for the benefit of residents and officers alike.
Nyatse reaffirmed that Ekiti remains one of the most peaceful states in the country and assured that the Command would continue to collaborate with sister agencies, community leaders, and stakeholders to sustain and improve security across the state.
The event was attended by senior police officers, government officials, members of the Police Community Relations Committee, traditional and religious leaders, and other dignitaries.
Earlier, the Secretary Nigeria Police Trust Fund had appreciated the Honourable Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Gaidam, for his guidance and support, as well as the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, for providing professional leadership aimed at enhancing effectiveness and accountability within the Force.
