The Chairman of Ado Central Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Engr. Toyin Ojo, has said his five years of grassroots leadership have equipped him with the experience and capacity to serve effectively in the House of Representatives.
Engineer Ojo made this known while speaking at the March Congress Edition of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ekiti State Council, held at the council’s secretariat, Ado Ekiti
He noted that his performance in office, coupled with his close engagement with constituents, has strengthened his belief that he can deliver more impactful representation if given a broader platform. According to him, his administration at the LCDA level prioritized the provision of social amenities and responsive governance, which he said has earned him acceptance among the people.
Engineer Ojo explained that his ambition is rooted in a lifelong commitment to service, adding that his background as a trained engineer and his involvement in service-oriented activities from his school days shaped his passion for problem-solving and community development.
Speaking on the political atmosphere in Ekiti State, the LCDA chairman commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji for what he described as exemplary leadership and the prevailing peace across the state. He attributed the calm political environment ahead of the elections to the governor’s inclusive style of governance and urged residents to come out in large numbers to vote in appreciation of the administration’s performance.
“We are about 15 in the race, but I believe the future is in God’s hands. By His grace, we will have the opportunity to serve the people of Ado Central and Ekiti State at large,” Ojo said. Reflecting on his tenure, he added, “My performance in the last five years has made me popular among the people. It has also convinced me that I can do more if given a larger platform. At the LCDA, I was able to reach out to my people, provide social amenities, and attend to their needs. With a bigger opportunity, I believe I can serve them better.”
Ojo emphasized that his driving force remains service to humanity, noting that his career and leadership journey have consistently been focused on improving lives and solving societal challenges.
“My goal is to leave a lasting impact. I want people to say I came and made a difference. Everything I have done has been about service, and that is what continues to guide me,” he said.
He further described Governor Oyebanji as a “godsend,” stating that the current administration has brought unprecedented peace and stability to the state.
Ojo, however, encouraged residents not to be complacent despite the peaceful atmosphere, urging them to actively participate in the electoral process. “We are encouraging everyone to come out and vote. It is a way of showing appreciation for the good work being done and sustaining the progress we are witnessing,” he added.
