The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Ekiti State has called on all registered voters who are yet to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to take advantage of the ongoing collection exercise across the state.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Ekiti State, Dr. Bunmi Omoseyindemi, announced that the PVC collection exercise commenced on June 2, 2026, and will run until June 8, 2026, at various Registration Areas and wards across the state.
According to the REC, the exercise will subsequently continue at the respective Local Government Area offices from June 9 to June 11, 2026, to ensure that eligible voters have adequate opportunity to obtain their cards.
Dr. Omoseyindemi emphasized the importance of the Permanent Voter Card, describing it as more than an identification document but a critical instrument for democratic participation.
“The Permanent Voter Card is an instrument through which citizens exercise their constitutional right to vote and contribute to shaping the future of their communities and the nation,” he stated.
He urged all eligible citizens who have completed their voter registration but are yet to collect their PVCs to do so within the stipulated period, stressing that voter participation remains essential to strengthening democracy.
The REC noted that civic responsibility extends beyond voter registration, adding that collecting the PVC is a personal obligation that enables citizens to actively participate in the electoral process.
Dr. Omoseyindemi also appealed to stakeholders, community leaders, youth groups, and members of the public to support the commission’s awareness campaign by encouraging eligible voters to collect their cards.
He reaffirmed INEC’s commitment to conducting credible, transparent, and inclusive elections in the state and advised members of the public to contact the nearest INEC office for further inquiries regarding the exercise.
