The Ajinde Ekiti Group has thrown its weight behind the re-election bid of Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, urging Ekiti residents and indigenes at home and in the diaspora to turn out en masse and vote for the governor in Saturday’s governorship election.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the group described the forthcoming election as a historic moment in the political evolution of Ekiti State, noting that it coincides with the 30th anniversary of the state’s creation.
According to the group, the current political transition is unique because it has witnessed an unprecedented convergence of interests across the state, with political groups, labour and trade associations, students, farmers and traditional institutions rallying behind a common candidate.
Ajinde Ekiti said the development reflects a growing commitment among Ekiti stakeholders to place the collective interest of the state above individual or partisan considerations.

The group expressed optimism that the emerging political consensus would strengthen unity among Ekiti people and accelerate development across the state.
“We strongly support this emerging development and urge our people to leverage this rare political experiment to build bridges and strengthen the bond of unity that has always defined Ekiti as a homogenous people,” the statement read.
The group appealed to eligible voters to participate actively in the election by casting their ballots for the incumbent governor, whom it described as a symbol of continuity and progress.
It argued that Oyebanji’s re-election would mark the first time in the state’s history that an incumbent governor would effectively hand over power to himself through a successful second-term mandate, a development it said would guarantee policy continuity and sustained development.
Ajinde Ekiti further called on residents to vote wisely and support the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stressing that continuity in governance would bring immeasurable benefits to the state.
The group concluded by expressing hope for the realization of the collective aspirations of Ekiti people and reaffirmed its belief in a brighter future for the state under Governor Oyebanji’s leadership.
