Atiku Urges INEC to Publish 103 Million Voters’ Register Ahead of 2027 Elections
Former Vice President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately publish the preliminary voters’ register ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Atiku expressed concern over the non-publication of the register during the announced period for public scrutiny, warning that the delay could raise questions about the transparency and credibility of the electoral process.
The former vice president stressed the importance of making the preliminary register available for public examination to enable eligible voters and other stakeholders to identify and correct possible errors before the elections.
He maintained that transparency in voter registration was essential to building public confidence in the electoral system and ensuring that the 2027 elections met the expectations of Nigerians.
Atiku’s call comes amid growing attention to preparations for the 2027 general elections, with stakeholders emphasising the need for credible voter registration, transparency and accountability in the electoral process.
The former presidential candidate urged INEC to take immediate steps to make the register accessible to the public, stressing that timely disclosure would help strengthen confidence in the commission’s preparations for the polls.
