The Ekiti State Director General, Bureau of Civic Orientation and Citizenship, Mrs Olabunmi Famuyiwa has pledged support and partnership with the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Ekiti state Council to re- orientate Ekiti indigenes on core values
She stressed that for the Ministry to achieve her lofty programmes of advocacy and sensitization for Ekiti residents to be morally upright, she promised to work with journalists. Saying journalists roles in governance are Paramount.
Mrs Olabunmi disclosed these while playing host to the leadership of Nigerian Union of Journalists, Ekiti state Council in her office on Wednesday. The Director General applauded Ekiti journalists for developmental reportage which she said had given the state a good image among states of the nation .
She further informed the Executives that her Ministry was poised at ensuring that Ekiti indigenes are re- orientated on the major core values, stating that Ekiti persons are known for diligence, honesty and self esteem among others. While reiterating that the rot in the society should not be allowed to totally erode the good values an Ekiti person is known for .
Earlier, the chairman of Nigerian Union of Journalists, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi had congratulated the DG on her appointment, expressing confidence that she would perform excellently in her new assignment. The chairman who described the DG as an asset who knows her onions, urged her to always inform journalists about the programmes of the ministry for wide publicity.
He solicited the cooperation of the ministry to give the union a national look, adding that the body would soon embark on road walk to sensitize Ekiti residents on prompt payment of tax and need to make the state safe and clean for government to embark on more developmental projects.
