The Ekiti State Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources has sealed an eatery in Ado-Ekiti and issued warnings to another over environmental sanitation violations linked to the persistent odour nuisance in parts of the state capital.
The enforcement exercise, led by the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Tosin Aluko-Ajisafe, was carried out around Satellite Junction and other areas within Ado-Ekiti.
During the operation, Belloni Kitchen was sealed for allegedly violating environmental sanitation regulations.
According to the Commissioner, preliminary findings revealed that the facility reportedly stored waste in a septic tank and discharged it into nearby drainage channels at night, contributing to environmental pollution and offensive odour in the area.

Another eatery, Amala Spot, was issued a stern warning over unsanitary conditions, with the Ministry directing the management to immediately comply with environmental health standards or risk further sanctions.
Aluko-Ajisafe warned business owners and residents against indiscriminate waste disposal and other harmful environmental practices, stressing that the government would continue to enforce environmental laws without compromise.
As part of the inspection tour, the Commissioner also visited a gas plant and later proceeded to Oja Bisi Market, where she urged traders to maintain cleanliness and refrain from displaying goods on walkways.
She appealed to residents to report suspicious environmental activities capable of causing odour pollution or other public health hazards, assuring that the state government would sustain monitoring, enforcement and sanitation reforms aimed at ensuring a cleaner and healthier environment across Ekiti State.
The Commissioner further urged residents to allow the law take its full course whenever offenders are arrested, emphasizing the need for cooperation with enforcement agencies to achieve effective environmental protection.
