A former lawmaker who represented Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II at the 9th National Assembly, Barr Omowunmi Ogunlola, has expressed condolences to the families of the two slained Ekiti monarchs, people of their communities, Governor Biodun Oyebanji as well as the entire people of Ekiti State.
Ogunlola in a condolence letter in Ado-Ekiti, explained that the heart-wrenching tragedy has not only claimed the lives of the two revered monarchs, but has sent shockwaves through the very core of Ekiti State’s cultural and societal fabric.
While commiserating with the people of Imojo and Esun, families of the late monarchs, Ogunlola described their death as a great loss not only to the immediate families, but the entire people of Ekiti State.
According to her ”Commiseration extends beyond mere words, reflecting a profound sense of shared sorrow and empathy with those directly impacted by this senseless act.
“The death of the two revered kings is not just a blow to their respective communities but a collective wound felt by the entire region.
“In this challenging time, I acknowledged the weight of responsibility on Governor Oyebanji’s shoulders. The tragic incident poses a significant test for the administration, threatening to overshadow the positive strides made in governance” she stated.
Ogunlola, however emphasized the need for the people of Ekiti State for more unity and resilience, equally urged the people to stand together in the face of adversity.
Highlighting a critical aspect of this sober occasion, the former Lawmaker urged the security agencies to be more proactive in their responsibilities, noted that the senseless killings of the two monarchs do not erode the hard-earned gains of good governance achieved under the Oyebanji administration.
“The security agencies are urged to be vigilant, proactive, and thorough in their efforts to maintain peace and stability in Ekiti State. I extends my condolences to the entire residents of the State.
Ogunlola who underscores what she called collective responsibility to address the root causes of insecurity in some parts of Ekiti State, stressed the needs for the security agencies to create a safer environment for the people of the State.
