A former Commissioner for Works in Ekiti State, Mrs Ogun Funmilayo Theresa, has congratulated ex-Governor Ayodele Fayose over appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the Chairman, Rural Electrification Agency(REA).
Ogun described the appointment as amplifying the fact that the ruling party recognises Fayose’s prowess and track records as a leader, who can deliver optimally, if saddled with any national responsibility.
These were contained in a congratulatory message signed by Mrs Ogun and made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti, on Wednesday.
President Tinubu, had on Monday announced the appointment of the former governor and the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State as the Chairman of the pivotal federal agency that focuses chiefly on expanding the scope of rural electrification across the country.
Expressing elation over the appointment, Mrs Ogun, exuded confidence that Fayose would bring his wealth of experience to bear to deliver and transform the agency to a performing one during his time, having demonstrated his mettle as a performer in his two- term reign as the governor of Ekiti State.
She urged Fayose to justify the appointment and use the agency to transform some rural settings in the country through aggressive electricity facilities that can uplift businesses and boost rural economy.
While appreciating President Tinubu for counting the well-meaning Ekiti leader worthy of the appointment, the former Commissioner congratulated Governor Biodun Oyebanji, the entire people of the state and the PDP family, for earning more federal recognition and respect from the presidency.
Mrs Ogun said Fayose as a sincere, committed, productive, dexterous and passionate leader would perform creditably well in this position to further elevate the fact that credible and competent people abound in the fountain of knowledge.
“On behalf of my family, I extend my warmest congratulations on your appointment as Chairman of the Board of the Rural Electrification Agency. This is a well-deserved recognition of your leadership, experience, and demonstrated commitment to national development.
“Rural electrification remains one of the most consequential levers for improving livelihoods, driving economic activity, and closing the developmental gap between urban and rural communities. Your appointment comes at a pivotal moment, as the Agency continues to expand access to reliable power for underserved communities and strengthen the partnerships needed to sustain that progress.
“Given your track records and strategic insight, I am confident that under your stewardship the Board will provide the vision, discipline, and accountability needed to accelerate the Agency’s impact while deepening private sector participation, strengthening governance, and ensuring that every naira and every project translates into homes, schools, and businesses with dependable electricity.
“Please, accept my sincere best wishes as you take on this important responsibility. I look forward to the Agency’s continuing success under your leadership”.
