The management of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti has extended humanitarian support to vulnerable children in Ekiti State through visits to an orphanage home and a correctional centre, where food items and relief materials were donated.
Representing the Rector of the institution, Engr. Dr. John Temitope Alake, the Deputy Rector, Dr. Michael Akinola, led the delegation to Erelu Adebayo Children’s Home and the Ekiti State Government Correctional Centre alongside the Registrar, Mrs. Folashade Akintola, Barrister Tosin Babalola, and representatives of the non-academic staff union.
During the outreach, the management distributed bags of rice, cartons of noodles, and other relief materials to about 50 children at the orphanage and 15 children at the correctional centre.
The visit created an atmosphere of excitement as the children welcomed the delegation with songs, dancing, and prayers in appreciation of the gesture.
Speaking during the visit on behalf of the Rector, Dr. Akinola said the outreach was part of the Polytechnic’s commitment to humanitarian service and social responsibility.
He noted that Engr. Dr. Temitope Alake has consistently demonstrated concern for vulnerable persons since assuming office, adding that the institution would continue to support people in need through regular interventions.

According to him, the Rector believes strongly in giving back to society and encouraging children facing difficult circumstances to remain hopeful and focused on their future.
Dr. Akinola also advised the children to remain disciplined and take their education seriously, stressing that their present situation should not prevent them from achieving greatness in life.
Officials of both centres commended the management of the institution for the visit and for showing love and care to the children.
One of the children at the orphanage also offered prayers for the Rector and members of the management team in appreciation of their kindness.
Speaking with journalists after the visit, Dr. Akinola described Rector Engr. Dr. John Temitope Alake as a compassionate leader committed to community development, emphasizing that collective efforts are needed to support vulnerable children because government alone cannot meet all societal needs.
