The Executive Chairman of Gbonyin Local Council Development Area in Aisegba-Ekiti, Ekiti State, Hon Damilare Ajayi,has provided the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police and three security Operatives with logistics in a bid to strengthen the security apparatus in the Local Government Area.
The logistics include: 5 Bajaj Motorcycles, 10 tyres, one battery for operational vehicles and other equipment and materials for internal security.
Hon Ajayi initiated the empowerment in Gbonyin Secretariat during the inauguration of Gbonyin LCDA Security Architectural Network.
The Chairman noted that criminal vices like Kidnapping, robberies, farmers/herders clashes and others have been on upward spiral, hence the need for Security Operatives in Gbonyin to nip them in the bud.
The Chairman equally expressed gratitude to Governor Biodun Oyebanji for his support in the Local Government, saying such great achievements would have been impossible without him.
The other three beneficiaries include, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Amotekun Corps and Oodua Peoples’ Congress (OPC) of the three combined Towns: Aisegba, Ilumoba and Ijan.
He therefore admonished the Security Operatives to make judicious use of the materials in order to improve the security architecture of the council area.
In his words, “Today, we are inaugurating the Gbonyin Security Architectural Network and this is necessitated by the extraordinary Security challenges being witnessed across the Nation, Ekiti State inclusive.
“For a long while, crimes such as kidnapping, ethnic cleaning, robberies, farmers/herders clashes, ritual killings and so on have been on an upward spiral and our government therefore needs to be proactive to nip them in the bud.
“To make this security network effective, the Council under my watch and with assistance of our hardworking and effective Governor, have procured 5 Bajaj Motorcycles for five security Agencies, Brand new tyres and battery for operational vehicles, various security equipment and materials for internal security.
“I express gratitude to our amiable Governor, His Excellency, Mr Biodun Oyebanji for his extraordinary support for my government without which these great achievements being witnessed in Gbonyin LCDA would not have been possible.
“I therefore admonish the beneficiaries to make judicious use of these materials in order to improve the security architecture of Gbonyin LCDA.”
On his part, the Onijan of Ijan-Ekiti, Oba Adebanji Aladesuyi admonished the people of Gbonyin to continue to campaign for peace, while also urging the beneficiaries to make use of the equipment for their designated purposes.
While appreciating the kind gesture of the Chairman, the representative of the Beneficiaries from OPC, Ogunmoroti pledged to liaise with other security agencies in the Local Government for maximum security.
Present at the event include, dignitaries like Ajagun of Ilumoba, Oba Jimoh Adetiba Olugbenga represented by High Chief Ademuagun of the Opoto of ilumoba; Apalufin of Aisegba, Oba Solomon omotoyinbo represented by Alasura of Aisegba, among others.
