The Supreme Court sitting in Abuja on Tuesday declared Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party as the Governor of Osun State.
The judgement led by Mohammed Shuaibu had affirmed the victory of Ademola Adeleke of PDP thereby nullified the judgement of the election petition tribunal that pronounced oyetola as the winner .
The Independent National Electoral Commission had declared that Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party polled 403,371 votes, to defeat the then-incumbent governor Adegboyega Oyetola, of the All Progressives Congress, who polled 375,027 votes
Oyetola and the APC rejected the result of the poll and headed for the tribunal and supreme Court.
In its January 27, 2023 majority verdict, the Justice Tertse Kume-led tribunal annulled Adeleke’s victory and declared Oyetola the winner while the appeal court declared Adeleke winner of the governorship Election.
