The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, (JAMB) on Thursday, approved 140 marks as cut-off for universities and 120 marks for polytechnics in Nigeria.
The decision was taken after a heated session comprising officials from JAMB, the Ministry of Education, the National Universities Commission, and the National Board for Technical Education among others
Meanwhile, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Examinations(JAMB) has said it will no longer consider the A’level results by the National Business and Technical Education Board ( NABTEB) for candidates seeking to gain direct entry admissions to tertiary institutions
The registrar of JAMB, Professor Ishaq Oloyede disclosed this during the 2022 policy meeting which is currently holding at the International Conference Centre in Abuja
The Honorable minister of education has approved that the NABTEB A’level GCE will no longer be recognized as a qualification for DIRECT ENTRY from 2022. However, Prof. Oloyede said, “all those who have already obtained it prior to this date will be able to use it”
Prof. Oloyede listed the challenges faced in the conduct of 2022 examination to includes: Examination malpractices, impersonation and substitution of real candidates by paid examination takers, fraudulent CBT owners who sabotage examination, parents encouraging examination malpractices, mass cheating by syndicates, prolonged investigation and prosecution.
