A middle-aged man, identified as Francis Adewunmi, has allegedly attacked his wife with a machete, leaving her with a head injury in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, before reportedly fleeing the scene.
The victim, while narrating her experience, disclosed that her husband, who resides in Lagos State, had travelled to Ado-Ekiti before the alleged incident occurred.
According to her, the disagreement that preceded the attack started when Adewunmi accused her of infidelity, an allegation she vehemently denied. She described the accusation as baseless, insisting that she had not engaged in the alleged conduct.
The woman further alleged that her husband had been threatening her life for the past 17 years, expressing fear over what she described as a prolonged pattern of threats that had now culminated in the latest incident.
She called for justice, urging the appropriate authorities to investigate the matter and ensure that necessary action was taken over the alleged attack and threats to her life.
However, when contacted, Adewunmi gave a different account of the incident, claiming that he accidentally hit his wife with a mobile phone during an argument.
The conflicting accounts surrounding the incident have raised concerns over the circumstances that led to the woman’s head injury, with the victim seeking justice over the alleged assault.
