Community development programmes have been identified as vital indices of any society.
This view was expressed by a first- class traditional ruler, the Oluyin of Iyin-Ekiti, HRM, Oba Adeola Adeniyi

The Monarch disclosed this while speaking with Journalists in his palace on Monday in preparation for 2023 IYIN DAY CELEBRATION slated for 4th November, 2023. Saying, five illustrious sons and daughters of the town would be honoured with Chieftaincy titles and several others with awards in recognition of their contributions to both human and physical developments of the town.
He added that all sons and daughters of Iyin Ekiti, home and in the diaspora are to attend the Day. According to him, the event will also feature the raising of a two hundred -million naira fund for the development of the town.
The Monarch underscored the importance of the celebration, saying it would afford the Community an opportunity to brainstorm and chat a new course on infrastructural development from both state and federal Governments.
On Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s one year in office, the monarch commended the governor for his developmental Programmes and policies that have direct impacts on the masses of the state. Oba Ajakaiye said the massive development witnessed at the grassroots was occassioned by the autonomy the governor allowed at local government/ LCDAs.
Buttressing his claims, the Monarch said the autonomy has made Iyin Ekiti witnessed development, being the Headquarters of ARAROMI LOCAL COUNCIL DEVELOPMENT AREA. He said governance has been brought closer to the people where dividends of democracy were enjoyed .According to the Monarch, ” Shops, stalls, culvert are built in my town including access to health facilities, my subjects are happy. I advise the federal government to fine-tune the process of upgrading LCDAs to Local Governments, so that the masses would enjoy more dividends of democracy”
Oba Ajakaiye applauded the leadership style of Governor Oyebanji which he attributed to the relative peace and development currently witnessed in Ekiti State, saying, the governor’s humility, love and dedication to the well being of Ekiti residents are commendable.
While calling on Nigerians to be patient with President Bola Tinubu to revive the economy of Nigeria, saying the economic crisis bedeviling Nigeria was a national phenomenon that affected the world too.
Oba Ajakaiye however advocated for more federal government presence in Iyin Ekiti, while appreciating the proposed Iyin-Ilawe roads rehabilitation. He said the Community needed both state and federal infrastructures.
He further called on federal government to constitutionalise the roles of traditional rulers, saying the roles of obas are the bedrocks of meaningful developments in Nigeria.
Oba Adeola Ajakaiye ascended his forefathers throne on 18th September, 2020.
