Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has said projects to be executed during his second term will be strategically targeted at boosting commerce, enhancing productivity and stimulating sustainable economic growth across the state.
Oyebanji stated this on Wednesday at a Town Hall Meeting with stakeholders from Ekiti North Senatorial District in Ifaki-Ekiti, organised as part of consultations for the 2027 budget. He said government would prioritise investments in healthcare, electricity, roads and water supply to improve living standards and create an environment for businesses and artisans to thrive.
The Governor said his administration would strengthen participatory governance in its second term, stressing that community inputs would continue to guide project selection and implementation. He added that the government’s focus would be on projects that deliver measurable value, enhance productivity and promote value addition across the local economy.
Oyebanji also urged Ekiti residents to support the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027, saying the state would intensify mobilisation to secure more votes for the President. He cited federal appointments and infrastructure projects benefiting Ekiti as evidence of the Federal Government’s support for the state.
The Governor disclosed that collaboration with the Federal Government had facilitated the award of major road projects, including the Ado-Ijan-Ilumoba-Ikole and Ado-Aramoko-Ita-Ore roads. The Commissioner for Health, Dr Oyebanji Filani, said over 300 nurses and 1,500 health assistants had been recruited in four years, while three new general hospitals had been approved for Ipao, Ikogosi and Awo-Ekiti.
Stakeholders, including traditional rulers and community representatives, pledged continued support for the administration while requesting more attention to roads, electricity, water supply and security in the 2027 budget. The Alaaye of Oke Ayedun, Oba Femi Aribisala, and other monarchs from Moba, Ido/Osi and Oye Local Government Areas urged government to address infrastructure gaps hindering economic activities and the welfare of residents.
