The Nigeria Police Force in Ekiti State has called for greater collaboration between security agencies, traditional institutions, and residents to strengthen safety across the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Falade Adegoroye Michael, made the appeal during the Agbeyewa Traditional Rulers’ Retreat 2026 held in Ikogosi-Ekiti on April 15. The CP said the call aligns with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, mandating commands nationwide to deepen stakeholder engagement in addressing insecurity.

According to him, effective policing requires public trust and cooperation, stressing that security agencies cannot succeed without the active support of the people.
Falade disclosed that the command has intensified proactive security measures, including joint bush-combing operations involving the Nigerian Army, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Amotekun Corps, Agro Marshal Vigilante group, and local hunters.
He explained that the operations are aimed at flushing out criminal elements from forests and rural communities to protect farmers and other residents from attacks. The commissioner noted that sustainable agricultural development depends largely on a secure environment, assuring that the command will continue intelligence-led policing, visibility patrols, and raids on criminal hideouts to safeguard lives and property.
The retreat attracted prominent traditional rulers from Ekiti State and the South-West, including the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, and the Chairman of the Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers, Adejimi Adu-Alagbado, alongside other royal fathers.
The event provided a platform for dialogue on security challenges and reinforced the role of traditional institutions in community policing and intelligence gathering.
