Professor Femi Omotoso of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti has enjoined parents to invest more on the education of their children for a glorious future.
Prof. Omotoso gave the advice at the 5th Annual Speech and Prize Giving Day of Fonop Academy, Ado Ekiti on Tuesday.
Prof. Omotoso who was the chairman of the programme berated some parents that invested on clothes, jewelries, and buildings that are ephemeral instead of the education of their children that would give them glorious future.
According to the chairman, “education is the bed rock of development, without education we are nothing. It’s unfortunate, as a nation we don’t value education anymore but the commitment of the proprietress to education system in Nigeria is commendable as she catch the students young for development, greatness and high integrity”
He applauded the proprietress for instilling discipline, respect and morals on the students which he said manifested in the behaviours and performances of the students.
The chairman urged the teachers to be more dedicated and upgrade themselves academically for them to impact the students for a brighter future.
Also, the Olumojo of Imojo, Oba Olusola Olatunji tasked the school authority to give qualitative education to the students, he said the students would only build on what they are taught in school which would position them well in future.He further enjoined both the school management and students to be obedient in all their endeavours.
Earlier, the Executive Director of Fonop Academy, Chief Mrs Modupe Kolawole appreciated parents for their commitment to the school despite harsh economy of the country.
She assured the school readiness to maintain and sustain a conducive learning environment for the students.She enjoined parents to enroll their children for holiday coaching to prepare them for next academic session.
Chief Mrs Kolawole who was elated at the performance of her graduand solicited the assistance of relevant authorities to help them secure admission into tertiary institutions .She added that the school had been accredited to write NECO while actions were in progress to get WAEC nod.
The students added glamore to this year’s programme as they entertained visitors and their parents with: Cultural dance, drama, choreography, barely and other activities.
