In Nigeria’s political space, few debates are as enduring as the one between mere rhetorics and tangible results. Too often, constituents are swayed by grand promises and eloquent speeches, only to be left with little to show for their mandate entrusted in the elected representatives. However, for the people of Ekiti South Senatorial District, the choice before us is not between unknown quantities or untested aspirants. It is between a track record of demonstrable performance and empty political noise.
In the instance situation, Hon. (Engr.) Bamidele Faparusi has already proven, under far more constrained circumstances, that ‘he can deliver where others fail.’
His tenure in the House of Representatives (2011–2015) remains a benchmark for people-oriented representation. Not because of the volume of resources available then, but because of the ingenuity, accountability, and compassion with which he deployed them.
The Evidence of Performance: Then vs. Now
Critics may argue that the political economy of 2011–2015 offered less federal allocation compared to today’s era of subsidy removal and increased revenue generation. Yet, despite meager wealth distribution resources at the national level between 2011-2015, Hon. Faparusi outperformed many of his contemporaries and even successors in delivering dividends of democracy to his constituents.
While some representatives have supervised budgets that are exponentially larger with little to show, Engr. Faparusi, with a fraction of the then little resources, facilitated:
· Rural electrification projects in previously dark communities.
· Rehabilitation of dilapidated primary health centers.
· Skills acquisition and micro-grants for women and youth.
· Scholarship schemes for indigent students in tertiary institutions.
. Distributions of material for Artisans
. Farmers supports and other tangible empowerment for the constituents.
These were not media stunts. These were visible, verifiable, and community-driven interventions.
*Pictures Don’t Lie: The Beneficiaries Speak*
Today, across Ekiti South, the story is fresh. Photographs from town hall meetings, commissioning ceremonies, and project sites from 2011–2015 are circulating again not as campaign props, but as testimony. The roads he touched, the transformers he provided, the boreholes he sunk: many are still functional. More importantly, the people who directly benefited (farmers who gained access to markets, students who graduated through his support, and artisans who received equipment) are now the loudest voices in his endorsement.
These are not hired crowds. They are witnesses. They have come forward voluntarily, saying: “He was the best representative we ever had.”
*Why We Need Him Now in the Red Chamber*
The Senate in our understanding requires more than oratory. It requires legislators who understand that constituents do not eat rhetoric. Engr. Faparusi is an engineer by training and a public servant by practice. He approaches representation as a problem-solving exercise, not a mere political game. At a time when Ekiti South needs bold voices to advocate for federal projects, agricultural value chains, and youth employment, we cannot afford to experiment with unproven aspirants again.
*His antecedent proves three non-negotiable qualities:*
1. Resourcefulness under scarcity: He delivered when funds were tight.
2. Grassroots trust: His former constituents are his best campaigners.
3. Focus on people, not positions: He has never been a career noise-maker.
*A Choice Between Past Proof and Empty Promises*
Fellow people of Ekiti South from Ekiti South West to Ikere, to Ise/Orun to Emure to Gbonyin and Ekiti East, this election is not about individual relationship or sentimental slogans. It is about who will wake up each day in the for years thinking of your welfare. Hon. Bamidele Faparusi has already passed that test. He did it with little, Imagine what he will do with more.
Let us not be deceived by volume. Let us be guided by evidence. Pictures don’t lie. Testimonies don’t fade. And results always outlast rhetorics.
Vote Engr. Bamidele Faparusi for Senate. People-oriented representation that works is assured!
