The Chairman, Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, Abubakar Suleiman, has described the late Speaker, Ekiti State House of Assembly, Funminiyi Afuye, as an outstanding legislator whose experience had impacted positively on the forum.
Suleiman, Bauchi State House of Assembly Speaker eulogised late Afuye during a special valedictory session for the late Ekiti speaker on Thursday at Ekiti State House of Assembly, Ado Ekiti.
Suleman added that “Ekiti will forever miss the sense of industry and passion for development exhibited by the late lawmaker.”
Also, speakers of the Plateau and Taraba states’ Houses of Assembly, Yakubu Sanda and Joseph Kunini, said that Afuye left indelible footprints in the act of lawmaking in the country.
Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, described Afuye as a thoroughbred legal luminary and seasoned legislator who epitomised finesse and strong character in his disposition to issues.
The Deputy Speaker , Hon Hakeem Jamiu who presided over the valedictory session said the Assembly would forever remember Afuye for his contributions to the development of lawmaking in Ekiti State.
He opined that the late speaker was known fo promotion of good governance in the state, adding that Afuye was instrumental to supporting and timely passage of laws that was beneficial to Ekiti people.
Recall Afuye died on 19 October of cardiac arrest at Ekiti State Teaching Hospital would be buried at Ikere Ekiti, his home town, today (Friday).
