A giant ‘Iroko’ who fell on 15th June, 2022 in Ilupeju Ekiti, his final burial comes up on 17th June, 2023 at St John’s Anglican Church, Ilupeju Ekiti by 10 am. A gallant army not commissioned to wear khaki, boot and did not arm himself with rifle but whose appearance and utterances sent marauders, thugs and external aggressors back to their base, anytime they planned to invade Ilupeju Ekiti.
The enigma, Ilese prince, lived at third upstair building, Esinkun, in Ilupeju Ekiti, a well known philantropist, business tycoon, contractor, respected Community leader, a house-hold name, disciplinarian, courageous and factual man whose philosophy was hard work pays ( Diligence is an antidote to poverty) ‘Ise logun ise’ brought a lot of innovations to Ilupeju Ekiti and impacted lives both the aged and the young.
An Icon whose finger prints are found in all spheres of human endeavours and ardent supporter of good causes for Ilupeju Ekiti.
Late David Abiodun Ogunsola was a force to reckon with during his life time through his dint of hardwork in : bricklaying, stone crushing, gravel and sand supplying, blocks making, transportation, farm produce merchant, garri production, palm oil and kernel production. His successful business acume made him very popular and respected in South West and Northern states.
Justifying his array of businesses situated in Ilupeju Ekiti, Late Ogunsola believed that to be successful in life, one needs multiple sources of income to cater for the multi-facete challenges of life. His businesses helped to reduce unemployment in the town by employing some indigenes and trained some on their choices of trades which had given them decent living.
Though, doing his personal business but had positive impacts on the town as many customers thronged the town and got to know more about Ilupeju Ekiti and her popular market, menara which invariably boosted the economy of the town.
Considering his interventions on bricklayers Association in Ilupeju Ekiti, Late David Ogunsola being the pioneer president coordinated the Association well and ensured professionalism and trustworthiness. Pa Ogunsola used his wide connections to bring many members of the Association to limelight.
In a chat with pa, Ojo a.k.a( BABAOMO) attested that Late Ogunsola was a role model to bricklayers in Ilupeju Ekiti and environs, stressed that he used his financial muscle to coordinate and position the Association towards helping members. He added that bricklayer’s building at Ilidan and the one at Ilupeju ward 2 was as a result of good leadership and cooperation courtesy late Ogunsola’s advice and Support.
Late David Ogunsola, though not too lettered but had native intelligent which positioned him ahead his contemporaries who are elites. Many of his learned mates and younger ones did visit him for advice on how to run successful businesses which paved ways for them at the long run. A good example was Pa. Ayo Ogunlade who was said to have been marvelled at the ingenuity of Pa Ogunsola whenever he visited him.
Ogunsola, the first to buy motorcycle and car among the artisans in Ilupeju Ekiti and the first to empower his apprentices with motorcycles to ease transportation palava. He was said to be the first to use brick build house in Ekiti North.
As a building contractor, late Ogunsola was favoured by government and individuals to build many standard buildings across Ekiti, Ondo and neighbouring states. His good works stands out in those states and are worthy of commendation.
Late Ogunsola took proper care of his big family, united them, trained / sponsored many in their academic pursuits and empowered others . He lived a fulfilled life and will be greatly missed!
