Youths of Oye Local Government have been advised to stop believing that without engaging in white collar job they can not make it in life. They were told to look inward and make use of opportunities around them.
These were the submissions of stakeholders in an interactive session titled :Encouraging and Empowering the youths in Business Opportunities organized by Youth Presidents of communities in Oye Local Government held at Norah Motel, Ayede Ekiti on Wednesday.
The Guest Speaker, Mrs Yetunde Fosudo who attributed the non productivity of Nigerian youths to over reliance on white collar jobs, pride and failure to think outside the box. She said until Nigeria youths changed their mindsets from rhetorics, they may not be able to give virile leadership.
The guest speaker charged the youths not to be ashamed of engaging in menial jobs rather than putting their hope on office jobs alone . Adding that having one stream of income was not too good for the economic situation in Nigeria.She advised to blend menial jobs with office work if it doesn’t affect each other. She advised them to be law abiding, role model. She further enjoined them to avoid any thing smoking. According to the speaker, ” I urged you to avoid smoking cigarettes, lieing among other things .
Also, the chairman of Ifeloju Local Council Development Area, Ilupeju Ekiti, Comrade Babatunde Ogunmilugba enjoined the youths to upgrade themselves at all times to be relevant in the Society, adding that youths should embrace farming to compliment whatever job they are engage in.
While appreciating former Governor Fayemi for the establishment of Local Council Development Areas which he said had triggered rapid Development in all Council Areas. He however enjoined all serving politicians to have another venture aside politics for relevance and sustainability.
Speaking further, the Olumojo
charged politicians to be responsive to the needs of all grassroot members, saying the development of communities should be the responsibilities of politicians. He said the Obas in the local Government had decided to design performance record for serving appointees from the Local Government.
Hon. Tope ‘Longe representing Oye Constituency 1 promised the better representation for Oye Local Government. He charged the youths to be hardworking and focused.
Earlier, Oye Local Government president, Engr. Femi Fagbemi hinted that the purpose of the submit was to open doors of opportunities for Oye Local Government youths. Saying the youths of the Local Government needed more Empowerment .
