The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has promised to end insecurity in the North-East, reactivate the Lake Chad Basin in Borno Sate, provide employment and reduce high taxation.
The former Vice President made the promise at the Ramat Square in Maiduguri where he addressed PDP supporters.
Atiku and his entourage had earlier visited the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Garba, who requested the presidential hopeful to tackle insecurity and unemployment for farmers to produce food in large quantity.
Addressing the crowd, Atiku said, “Before I arrived here, I visited the Shehu of Borno and in his address, he requested us to attend to about four or five issues that are the problems in Borno.
“One of it is to restore peace and security in the state. Secondly, to reactivate Chad Basin development so that our farmers can go back to the farm so that we can produce food and reduce unemployment”
Moreso, Shehu requested for electricity supply in all the local governments areas and reactivate the exploration of oil in the Chad Basin, which we promise to do by the grace of God.”
Atiku Abubakar reiterated that he would prioritize welfare of citizens and revamp Nigeria’s Economy if emerged Nigeria president in 2023.
Also speaking at the rally , Atiku’s running-mate and Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, said Nigerians cannot afford to allow the APC to remain in power beyond May 29 next year, saying that the ruling party has put citizens in a deep hole.
He said it is only the PDP flagbearer that can pull the country out of the mess the ruling party has placed it.
Okowa told the party supporters: “The problem of Nigeria today is just too much and the only person that can handle it and make sure that our children are happy again is Atiku Abubakar. We cannot allow the APC any more day after May 29, 2023, so they must go.
“But we have a lot of work to do and that work is for all of us who are here. You must come out to vote, you must bring your brothers, your sisters and you must defend that vote after voting. We don’t want them to steal your votes anymore.
