The Nigerian Union of Journalists, (NUJ), Ekiti State Council has called on Governor Biodun Oyebanji to appoint a competent and thoroughbred journalist as Commissioner for Information.
The Union also reminds the State Governor of the payment of 35 per cent weigh-in allowance for the Press Officers in the government service.
In a communique signed by the Secretary of NUJ, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi at the end of its June Congress hinted that the call was imperative to further strengthen the cordial working relationship between the government and Journalists.
While commending the State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji for regular payment of workers salaries, the union urged him to fulfill his promise of defraying outstanding allowances, deductions and leave bonuses of members working in media houses.
The union further called on state and federal government to work out modality and make palliative available to all Nigerians to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal.
The union urged the State government to embark on construction of drainage system and dredging of waterways in the flood prone areas across the state to avert flood disaster during this rainy season, repair bad portions of roads in the State and open more roads in Ado-Ekiti, the State capital especially some areas that are difficult to access.
