It was a new dawn for the people of Ekiti North when two political socialists displayed their mettle in political socialization last weekend at Ogotun Ekiti in Ekiti South Senatorial District, during a conferment of Chieftaincy title of ‘Asiwaju Bobakeye of Ogotun Ekiti’ on Otunba Demola Popoola, a native of Oye Ekiti in Oye Local government of Ekiti North Senatorial District of Ekiti state.
Otunba Popoola is one of the illustrious sons of Oye Ekiti who contested for governorship primary election under All Progressives Congress in the just concluded gubernatorial election in Ekiti state.
In attendance at the occasion was Honourable Bimbo Daramola, the SDP House of Representatives candidate of Ekiti North federal constituency 1 in the forthcoming February 2023 general election, accompanied by Honourable Mercy Bosede ILESANMI, the House of Assembly candidate of Social Democratic Party ( SDP) Oye Constituency 2.
It’s a fact that the political culture and behaviour of Ekiti politics is strange among the people at the grassroots where politicians from different parties hardly relate/ socialise with one another especially during electioneering period .
The comradie of the duo: Hon. Bimbo Daramola (Congressman) and Otunba Demola Popoola (ODEP) have shown to Ekiti people that Politics can be played with modesty and maturity without hitting up the polity by Extending their knowledge of political socialization to ameliorate politics of belligerence among Ekiti people.
In lieu of the show of love displayed overtly at public glare shows that
the future of Ekiti politics is safe in the hands of the duo having displayed their understanding of political socialization. It was like a mirage to a lot of people when ODEB of the APC raised the hand of Hon. Bimbo Daramola as his house of representatives candidate in the next year election. ODEP promised his support for the “congressman” in the forthcoming Election. Otunba Demola Popoola’s Popular declaration of support for Hon. Bimbo Daramola’s Aspiration will also illuminate the chance of the SDP in the actualisation of such ambition in Ekiti North federal constituency 1.
The kind gesture of the duo simply indicated that both of them are morally nurtured, politically informed and socially inclined in all ramifications.
My advise to upcoming politicians in Ekiti state is that they should emulate the duo of Otunba Demola Popoola and Honourable Bimbo Daramola’s styles of politics and desist from the mundane style of the past selfish politicians who demonstrated politics of DO or DIE.
